The Joint Graduate School in Coastal and Marine Science aims to foster coastal and marine research among schools and departments within the University and with NIWA.


If you are interested in undertaking postgraduate research in coastal and marine science you should contact an appropriate staff member of the JGS to discuss potential topics.

Visit Research opportunities

As a postgraduate student you will enroll into a research degree at the university (typically MSc or PhD) and into the department or school of your primary research supervisor (e.g. School of Biological Sciences, Department of Statistics, School of Chemical Sciences, School of Environment).
